How does UO Online work?
Online courses use web-based teaching tools to deliver course materials. This makes it possible to take classes online from anywhere with reliable Internet access. Online courses can help resolve schedule conflicts you may have with work, family, or other courses.
At the University of Oregon, online courses use the Canvas course management system. Some classes also require in-person, proctored exams.
UO Online courses follow the same term schedule as courses taken on campus and credits are awarded in the same way. There is no difference on your transcript between an online course and a classroom-based course.
You are eligible to take UO Online courses as a regularly admitted UO student, or through the Community Education Program (CEP).
